To facilitate communication with our homeless and re-housed patients, we’re looking for voluntary interpreters in different languages. Their role? To accompany our field teams during their encounters with people of foreign origin.
Facilitating our exchange with patients
Accompanying patients on the street or at their home, we must work with vulnerable people from all over the world.
The accompanying team therefore sometimes runs into a language barrier.
As much as possible we work with translation services but to organise this is often too complex for the reality of our patients.
Conditions for voluntary interpretation/h2>
The interpreter will be asked to accompany us during inspections rounds in the street and during house visits (in the 19 Brussels communes).
We’re mainly looking for people speaking the following languages:
Arabic
Polish
Romanian
Punjabi
Somali
For translation into French.
The duration of translation can range from a few minutes on the phone to a longer personal meeting in the presence of two Street Nurses representatives.

We organise a prior meeting to set a meeting and to establish a precise working framework (professional secrecy, etc.)
As to your availability, we take your possibilities into account, but it should always be during our working hours, i.e. Monday till Friday, from 9 am till 5.30 pm.
